The term halal broadly refers to what is permissible under Islamic Law. A halal diet excludes anything deemed forbidden such as pork, alcohol, or meat that is not slaughtered according to Islamic guidelines. While individual Muslims may vary in how they interpret and practice these dietary rules, a spectrum of scholarly interpretation generally shapes what is considered acceptable. For many Muslims, following a halal diet is not just about the rules, but a way to connect to their faith, cultural heritage, and sense of belonging.
