Kosher Dining

Kosher refers to foods that meet the dietary standards of Jewish law, known as kashrut. These guidelines include which foods may be eaten, how certain foods are prepared, and how they are served. For many members of the Jewish community, keeping kosher is an important expression of faith, tradition, and cultural identity.

UIC Dining Services is committed to supporting students’ diverse dietary needs and creating an inclusive dining experience for all Flames.

Dining Hall Kosher Meals

Kosher meals are available to students and guests dining in our resident dining halls (605 Commons Dining Hall in Student Center East, and JST Cafe in James Stukel Towers).

Students with a meal plan may use one meal swipe plus an additional fee to purchase a Kosher meal.

Students and guests without a meal plan may purchase a Kosher meal at the current dining hall door rate plys the applicable Kosher meal surcharge.

Kosher Meal Upon Request

Students and guest interested in a Kosher meal simply request one at the front register upon arrival at 605 Commons or JST Cafe.

Please note that Kosher meals are prepared upon request and may require a wait time to prepare.

Retail Kosher Options

Kosher options ae also available at select UIC Dining retail locations. Look for a Kosher certification symbol on product packaging to identify items that are certified Kosher.

Market at Halsted, located in Student Center East, also features a dedicated Kosher shelf with a selection of Kosher-certified products. Products are individually labeled with their Kosher certification for easy identification.

Kosher meals available in our resident dining halls are also available for purchase at select retail locations.
