Sustainability
As a guest, it is easy to make smart environmental choices when you dine at a UIC café. We know today's college students want to do the right thing for the planet and we also understand you lead busy lives, so your Sodexo chefs and managers do a lot of the work for you behind the scenes!
From purchasing local seasonal produce whenever possible to reducing inorganic and organic waste, your campus team is dedicated to providing you with an exceptional dining experience that is good for you and good for the planet.

- FILL: Fill up your reusable container with your food to take out.
- RETURN: Bring your used reusable container to the recycling machine (605 Commons) or the recycle bin (JST Café) follow directions for getting a token from the machine or from the cashier.
- REPEAT: Next time you get food, give your token to the cashier in exchange for a new reusable container!
Waste Reduction
Reducing organic and inorganic waste are other areas in which we are committed to working with our campus partners to make a real difference. 605 Commons (SCE) and JST Cafe utilizes reusable to-go containers and trains employees on waste reduction to reduce the amount of food, packaging, energy, and other resources that are wasted.
